Pregnant parents wanted: Experience interesting facts about baby sleep!

The psychology team of the Ruhr University Bochum is currently looking for participants for a study on baby sleep. As part of this study, it is to be found which information parents want about the sleep of their infants and how they are related to the well -being of the parents. In particular, pregnant women and main relapses of children aged 0 to 36 months.

Answering the questions in the study takes about 20 to 30 minutes. As an incentive for participation, ten vouchers worth 50 euros are raffled off among all participants. Participation is possible online until at least at least at the end of May. This study is part of the "NAP - The Infant Sleep Hub" project, which has been funded by the Volkswagen Foundation with around 850,000 euros since 2024, such as news.rub.de reported.

changes in the sleep pattern of infants

The sleep behavior of infants is subject to significant changes in the first year of life. These developments are due to both biological and environmental factors. Parental influences play an important role here. An article on pubMed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov explains that parental behavior, especially during bedtime and with calming routines, is heavily linked to the sleep quality of infants.

Studies show that higher parental participation is connected to the little ones with fragmented sleep. Interventions that aim to modify parental behaviors and cognitions can have positive effects on the sleep of infants. It is also pointed out that poor sleep not only affects the infants, but also put parents under stress and can act as a risk factor for postpartum depression.

safe sleeping environments for infants

Another important aspect of baby sleep is security. Information on the optimal sleeping environment for infants and for the use of sleeping bags are available on the MAGS website. This information is available in ten languages, including English, French, Turkish, Arabic and German. The aim of these materials is to inform parents about safe sleep practices and to avoid risks such as the sudden infant death, which represents the most common cause of death in the first year of life, as DetailsOrtBochum, DeutschlandQuellen
