Handy thief put in Emsdetten: accomplice uncovered!

On Thursday, April 10, 2025, the police in Emsdetten arrested a 31-year-old man who is said to have committed several heavy thefts. The accused is now in custody. The officers led the investigations to him after four cell phone theft in the entire district were reported in just one day. Damaged people from Emsdetten, Rheine, Hörstel and Ibbenbüren had alerted because their mobile phones had been stolen from shops.

The perpetrator's procedure was always the same: he pretended that he did not speak German in order to distract the employees. With a piece of paper, at the fact that a person was waiting for a translation outside, he covered the view of the cell phones and stole them at the crucial moment. The police searched for the perpetrator and was finally able to stop a silver Skoda with a Polish license plate on the B481, in which the suspect and a 61-year-old accomplice sat. When searching the vehicle, the officers discovered stolen smartphones and the crime clothes. The investigation continues because the man is suspected of having committed further thefts.
