Russia attacks Kiev: Trump calls on Putin to stop the bombings!

Russia and the United States seem to approach a possible agreement to terminate the Ukraine War, but there are still numerous hurdles to overcome. Radio Ennepe Ruhr reports that the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lawrov reports, parts of the agreement need "fine adjustments". However, he sees the negotiations in a positive way and recognizes progress. In the meantime, the situation in Ukraine remains tense, especially after the latest air strikes in Kiev, which cost at least twelve people on Thursday night.

President Donald Trump expressed himself sharply about the Russian attacks and asked Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin to stop her. He described the attacks as "unnecessary" and criticized the current timing as inappropriate. In a planned peace agreement with Russia, the demands of Russia are to be taken into account, but this is due to resistance from Ukraine. Trump said that the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj was more challenging than with Russia.

The emergence of a peace plan

Selenskyj described the Russian attacks as a means of pressure to impose clear demands on the United States, and criticized Washington's lack of pressure on Moscow. He emphasized that Ukraine was ready to conduct negotiations, but only as long as there is an armistice. Security expert Claudia Major warned that Trump's peace plan put pressure on Ukraine and largely accepts Russian demands.

Selenskyj insisted that no suggestions that violate the Ukrainian constitution can be included in an agreement. This illustrates the difficulties in front of which the negotiations are facing. ZDF reported that the Ukrainian president also found Trump's criticism and procedure inappropriately.

Current developments

US Foreign Minister Marco Rubio canceled his participation in an important conference with European representatives. This raises questions about American politics and commitment. The attack on Kiev was given by EU foreign officer Kaja Kallas as an example that Russia is the greatest obstacle to the end of the war.

Since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, Kiev started his own counter -offensive. Despite the difficult situation, the international community remains interested in an end to the conflict, whereby the coming weeks could be decisive for the negotiations.
