This afternoon, October 28, 2025, a tragic accident occurred at Essen-Kray Nord train station. At 2:35 p.m., the Essen fire department was alerted after a young person was hit by a regional express (RE 2) in the track area. The young man was at the train station with two friends and, for reasons that are still unclear, fell onto the track bed, where he was run over by the train traveling in the direction of Duisburg.
