Schleiden, Deutschland - The municipal secondary school Schleiden is faced with the challenge of forming a fourth entrance class in the coming school year 2025/26. With around 100 new registrations, the school has clearly grown beyond the existing capacities, which requires an adaptation of the structure. Nevertheless, spatial close and legal requirements of this development could stand in the way. In 2007 it was determined that the junior high school should be a maximum of three times. If the application is approved, the school could temporarily form a fourth grade, but only in agreement with the school management and after approval of the district government of Cologne. The school's rector, Birgit Barrelmeyer, already expressed concerns about the high class sizes, which threatens with a triple of 32 or 33 students. The administration supports its concerns because the spatial conditions are already tense.

The need to form the fourth grade is particularly pressing, since from 103 pupils four classes have to be formed, while up to 102 a four -zeroity can be set up. For the additional students, a room in the annex is to be rebuilt, which is currently being used by the music school. The conversion costs are estimated at around 15,000 euros, but there are already no further building capacities and an expansion due to the slope is not possible. Mayor Ingo Pfennings has clearly emphasized that comprehensive four -zeroity is not feasible.

In addition, the city of Kall informed about possible school cancellations, which further complicated. Another central point is the lack of school development plan for the seven schools in the urban area. A proposal for school development planning should be presented to the city council in 2026.

In addition, the school is involved in traffic safety by organizing a “road trip” for ninth and tenth graders in cooperation with the GfW Schleiden. For classes 10, there are regular job interviews with regional companies in the sense of preparation for career choice. An event with numerous companies is scheduled for October 2nd.

For the fourth graders, the junior high school also plans an afternoon with activities to acquire a nasal nose diploma. This wide -ranging activity within the school community shows that despite the spatial challenges, the school strives to maintain a high -quality educational offer. The first principal, Rainer Bretz, is also retired before the summer vacation, which brings another change in school.
