Israel allows relief supplies for Gaza: controversial decision after printing!

In a significant step, the Israeli government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that relief goods can now get back into the Gaza Strip. This decision comes after months of blockade, which has been in force since the beginning of March. According to reports, the pressure on Israel was increased by the United States to enable humanitarian aid to the crisis region. According to official sources, this is done on the recommendation of the military to prevent possible famine in the Gaza Strip. Aid organizations now have permission to transport urgently needed goods for a week. However, the release of the hostages is not directly linked to the auxiliary transports, as negotiations continue to run.

In parts of the Israeli cabinet, the announcement caused outrage, in particular the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, expressed a skeptical manner and called for a complete military solution against Hamas. This is in the context of a quickly stricter humanitarian location in the Gaza Strip, where over a million people are already fleeing. Tens of thousands have left the north of the Gaza Strip in the past few days and opened up to the south. Many transport their belongings on bicycles, handcarts or donkey carts.

Humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip

The situation on site is catastrophic. Clinics have difficulty carrying out operations because there is a lack of pain relievers and fuel for generators is scarce. The humanitarian auxiliary convoys, who recently came to Gaza from Egypt, only consist of 54 trucks - compared to the 500 trucks a day, which were delivered to the country before Hamas at that time. The Red Cross therefore calls for the establishment of a second safe corridor for humanitarian aid to improve the situation of the people concerned. According to reports, private security companies have started to distribute food in certain zones of the southern Gaza Strip to prevent abuse by Hamas.

In addition to the multi -layered challenges, the aid organizations are struggling with the fear of an outbreak of diseases due to the poor sanitary conditions in the Gaza Strip. Suggestions to ensure a second corridor that could lead to the eastern border of Gaza via the West Bank. The International Committee of the Red Cross (IKRK) is in discussions with a conflict parties to realize this corridor.

military developments and the future

The Israeli army has reinforced its offensive in the Gaza Strip: five battalions are active in the north and south, whereby a concrete attack plan, called "Gideon's Lear", provides for dividing Gaza and holding conquered areas. The aim is to put pressure on Hamas to relieve the remaining 58 hostages. The spokesman for the Israeli army emphasizes that the military strategy aims to give politics flexibility.

The situation remains tense and the humanitarian needs in the Gaza Strip should be enormous even after a possible end of the fights. Aid organizations are already preparing for expansion of the conflict in neighboring countries in order to continue to ensure the support of the civilian population concerned. The international community is called to work for an immediate fire break and unhindered access of humanitarian aid.
