On Thursday morning, March 13, 2025, the siren warning day took place in Krefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). The sirens howled at 11 a.m., and the goal of this nationwide trial alarm was the test of civil warning systems, including sirens, Cell Broadcast and Warnapps like "Nina". The alarm was clearly heard in Krefeld, but not the same everywhere. Despite the high functionality of the sirens in Krefeld, there were reports on sub -failures. Ten sirens showed technical problems so that at least one planned warning tone could not be triggered. These disorders should now be examined more closely, whereby the specific locations of the affected sirens still have to be determined. The Ministry of the Interior of North Rhine -Westphalia is responsible for the mobile phone warnings, and the authority itself also draws a positive balance: "No significant major disorders". However, individual failures were found due to old smartphones or a lack of updates, which prevented users in some cases from receiving the warning.
