Art Pavilion takes off: Innovation Prize for Lenny Liebig!

Today a special project is being celebrated in Gütersloh: The art pavilion at the Janusz Korczak Comprehensive School is being transformed into an expanded space of possibilities. The reason for this is the project “200 beams for ‘More space for us’” led by the artist Lenny Liebig, which received the 2025 Innovation Prize from the city’s culture department. This prize, which is endowed with 5,000 euros, honors cultural projects that combine creativity, sustainability and social impact.

As the city of Gütersloh reports, the project is a further development of an initiative initiated by students with the aim of making the art pavilion more appealing and highlighting the importance of art in public spaces. In the future, the pavilion itself will serve as an open platform for participation, design and encounters and is intended to particularly appeal to people with little access to art and cultural participation.

Grand opening in July

The Innovation Prize jury was unanimously convinced of the artistic and social relevance of the project. The new furniture in the art pavilion will be visible and playable in the fall. Temporary stagings are planned at various locations in the city to demonstrate the pavilion's versatility. Lenny Liebig has already announced a grand opening that will take place on Monday, July 7th at 4 p.m. The school principal Heidrun Elbracht, Mayor Matthias Stapelr and the young people involved will also be present on this day.

“More Space for Us” should not just be a name, but a real understanding of community and art. The focus is on the influence and multicultural experience that everyone in attendance will share.

With support for realization

While this artistic highlight is celebrated, it is also worth taking a look at the general possibilities for supporting creative projects. According to information from the Kreativ-Bund, there are numerous ways to receive financial support for similar projects. The creative community in the region can be further strengthened and provide new impulses.

The project “200 beams for ‘More space for us’” will not only enrich Gütersloh, but could also serve as an example for many other cities to rethink and design art and participation. The combination of student engagement, creative planning and community support demonstrates the importance of making arts accessible to all. This means that the city remains a place where art and culture are highly valued.

For further information about funding opportunities for creative projects, it is worth taking a look at the Kreativ-Bund website to discover additional supporting resources.

For everyone who is interested in taking part in the Innovation Prize, the guidelines and data protection in accordance with the requirements of the IU International University must be observed. But don't worry, participation can help take your creative project to a new level!

Overall, it shows that the Innovation Prize in Gütersloh is not just an award ceremony, but a real source of inspiration for art and culture within the community.
