Blue hour in Soest: Discover magical works of art by Heide Drever!

The eagerly awaited exhibition “Blue Hour” by the Hamm-based artist Heide Drever will open in the gallery of the Kunstverein Kreis Soest on June 20, 2025. Under the motto “The color has me, the magic and melancholy of the blue hour,” Drever invites visitors to immerse themselves in a mystical world that focuses on the thin line between day and night. The exhibition can be seen until August 3, 2025 and offers the opportunity to admire the works of art every Tuesday to Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The opening is planned for 7 p.m. and there will be an exciting dialogue between Heide Drever and Inga Schubert-Hartmann. Drever, who is known as a board member of the Soest Art Association and a former museum educator at the Gustav Lübcke Museum in Hamm, is showing a total of 24 of her impressive works, which were created with oil pastels on Chinese paper. Her art deals with abstract landscapes, plants, trees, different times of day and people's desires.

Soest District Art Association

The Soest District Art Association was founded in 1981 and now has around 650 members, including 180 artistically active personalities. Inga Schubert-Hartmann currently heads the association, supported by an expert advisory board. The art association has its own gallery, the “Kunstsaal” with 140 square meters, and organizes 15 to 17 exhibitions every year in various locations, such as the Wilhelm Morgner Museum and the Kulturforum Thomä-Kirche. Regular art trips to renowned exhibitions and the publication of information materials such as annual programs and “artist news” are part of the association's regular program.

Particularly noteworthy is the annual judging of the exhibition “The Heirs of Wilhelm Morgner – Homage to a Westphalian”, which combines tradition and modernity. The association also awards a sponsorship prize and an audience prize to support talented artists from the region. The art association is also open to creative workshops and art campaigns and works closely with partners such as the Bergische Kunstgenossenschaft and the Hazart Gallery in Soest/NL.

A look into the future

The art scene in Soest thrives on the dynamism and creativity of its members. In this context, the sculpture “Orbital” by the Cologne artist Martin Willing will also be presented at Wiesengraben on loan for at least ten years. This commitment not only shows support for regional art, but also strengthens the region's cultural identity and diversity. Inga Schubert-Hartmann, who has headed the art association since March 2002, has advocated for art to always be understood as an interactive experience that encourages pause and reflection.

The exhibition “Blue Hour” represents another piece of the puzzle in the colorful mosaic of the Soest art scene. It impressively demonstrates how art helps us not only to see the world around us, but also to feel and question it. Be it in the melancholic hour of twilight or in the lively brilliance of the day - Heide Drever's works invite us to open ourselves to the magic of colors.

The exhibition is an absolute must for anyone interested in art, and for those who have already been captivated by the fascination of art, the dialogue between the two artists will certainly be a highlight. Don't miss this event!
