Kleve-Kellen: Discover the changes over the last 25 years!
A lot has happened in the tranquil district of Kleve-Kellen over the last 25 years. Since the 1250th anniversary celebrations in 2000, the surrounding area has changed significantly. New residential areas have emerged and historic buildings have been lovingly renovated and redesigned. A zealous civic spirit has contributed to a flourishing of associations, while notable changes have also taken place in the areas of churches and schools. Lower Rhine News informs about this transformation.
It will be particularly exciting on Sunday, September 21st, at 2:30 p.m. On this day, the Business, Tourism & Leisure City of Kleve (WTM) invites you to a tour lasting around two hours, led by the charming tour guide Hans Heinz Hübers. The tour begins at the Schützenhaus Kellen at Zur Alten Kirche 50 and takes participants through the new development areas. The redesigned areas such as the Union grounds – including the Flora quarter and the “Wilde 13” kindergarten – as well as the Kellen sports center are also on the program. Lower Rhine News highlights that the former Church of the Resurrection, which is now used as a boxing factory, is also being examined here.
The historical review
The tour not only offers a look at current developments, but also at the eventful history of the region. Participants can look forward to a wealth of information about the Willibrord Church, but the still impressive steles for war dead and the basalt columns as a memorial against violence at the Old Cemetery are also discussed. Various storms and demolitions have led to the redevelopment of parks in the area, and there are exciting stories to be discovered. Kleve.de offers additional information about the monuments and historical aspects of the city of Kleve.
The city of Kleve is committed to preserving its cultural heritage not only in Kellen but also as a whole. The city's lower monument authority is affiliated with Department 61 Planning and Building and takes care of all matters relating to monument protection and preservation. The aim is to preserve the city's built, historical heritage for future generations. Owners, builders and architects can find support here with questions regarding monument law. The work is carried out on the basis of the Monument Protection Act of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which contains strict requirements for the preservation and care of monuments.
