Anuga 2025: Record trade fair with new super snacks in Cologne!

The international food trade fair Anuga in Cologne set impressive records this year. Over 8,000 exhibitors present their products in the large exhibition halls, with one goal: to impress tens of thousands of trade visitors. The rush is huge, around 140,000 trade visitors from 200 countries came to see the latest trends and innovations. Particularly noteworthy: 94 percent of the exhibitors and 80 percent of the visitors come from abroad. According to WDR this is the most international edition of the trade fair to date!

A highlight of this year's Anuga are the innovative new products. Visitors were able to discover, among other things, snacks made from crickets and butter made from apricot kernels - a clear trend towards sustainability that also reflects the main theme of the trade fair. Thematically, everything revolves around “sustainable growth” and the responsible use of resources. The focus is on topics such as optimizing supply chains and fair food production, which are consistently received positively by the exhibitors.

Visitor flows and logistical challenges

Some of the visitors, who often come from the Benelux countries, also took advantage of overnight accommodation in Cologne hotels. The rush is not only economically significant, but also brings practical challenges. On Sunday, a marathon with around 37,000 participants will be held in Deutz, the route of which leads through many parts of the city. This causes significant road closures and traffic restrictions. However, trade fair boss Gerald Böse is calm about these temporary inconveniences.

A look at the future

Anuga has developed into an important part of the food industry. With a number of exhibitors of around 7,900 from 118 countries and a record-breaking international share, it is a central meeting point for important food retailers such as Amazon, Aldi, Carrefour, Lidl and Metro. The next Anuga has already been announced for the period from October 4th to 8th, 2025, and anticipation is already growing. According to TK-Report, the trade fair will once again be characterized by internationality and reflect current developments in the food trade.

With Anuga, Cologne continues to act as an important location for trade fairs in the food sector. In addition to Anuga, other important trade fairs also take place here, such as ISM for confectionery and snacks and BIOFACH for organic food. These events not only provide platforms to present new products, but also opportunities to network and exchange information about the latest trends in the industry. wlw.de describes how such trade fairs can increase the competitiveness of companies and strengthen the brand worldwide.
