Leverkusen celebrates inclusion: Health Day with exciting hands-on activities!

On Saturday, June 28, 2025, Leverkusen will be all about health and inclusion. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors can experience a colorful program in the Wiesdorf pedestrian zone and the town hall gallery. The 3rd Leverkusen Health Day and the 2nd Day of Inclusion promise a variety of hands-on activities and valuable information.

Over 30 exhibitors have registered to provide information about health topics as well as to present interactive offers. The activities include first aid on a dummy, blood sugar measurements and a blind obstacle course designed to illustrate the challenges faced by people with visual impairments. The Leverkusen Clinic will also present the surgical robot “Mako SmartRobotics”, which is used for cemented hip joints. ksta.de reports that such innovative technologies are essential for safe medical care.

A day for everyone

Particular attention is paid to the wheelchair course, which shows the challenges of everyday life from the perspective of wheelchair users. This gives visitors a realistic insight into the various aspects of mobility. According to current data, 10.7% of citizens in Leverkusen have a severe disability. It is therefore particularly important that accessible offers and barrier-free information are provided in order to enable everyone to participate equally.

Participating organizations taking part in the day of inclusion include the Arbeiter-Samaritan-Bund Leverkusen, the German Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG) and the Rhein-Wupper Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. These institutions are committed to making the needs of people with disabilities more visible and promoting integration into all areas of life. leverkusen.de highlights how important it is for different actors to work together.

Health checks and information

Health checks are also not neglected. Blood pressure and blood sugar measurements, as well as exercise and mental health advice are on the program. Women's health will also be the focus of a topic, with information on HPV vaccination, pregnancy and heat protection. The goal is to educate the public about important health issues and emphasize the importance of prevention, especially for women.

At a time when the Corona pandemic has changed the world, access to health services and the inclusion of people with disabilities remain an important challenge. Claudia Middendorf, the state representative for people with disabilities and patients, emphasizes the need to systematically break down existing barriers and implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities into everyday life. lbbp.nrw.de points this out that inclusion is not a sure-fire success and requires continuous effort.

Admission to the Health Day is free and offers all visitors the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information and take an active part.
