Shock in the New Year's accident: Six injuries on the B 56!

On January 1, 2025, a serious accident occurred on federal road 56, in which six people were injured, including five children and adolescents. Three of them suffered serious injuries. This incident was part of a worrying accident series on the section between Much and Sankt Augustin, where a total of eight accidents were recorded in 2024. Despite this accumulation, however, the B 56 did not meet the criteria of an accident frequency body, which may be a maximum of one kilometer long. The accident frequency line, on the other hand, can be longer in exceptional cases, but cannot exceed the limit of 30 kilometers.

In 2024 there were only two serious accidents on the section of the B 56 near Siegburg. A particularly consequent incident occurred on March 2, when a collision with an injured man led to property damage of around 70,000 euros. Another collision that took place on March 26 called for two seriously injured. In addition, there were several accidents towards Much near Lohmar-Heide in the course of the year: a motorcyclist was seriously injured on August 8 in a game accident, on August 25th a young driver overturned, and on October 17, two vehicles collided due to an oil spur, which brought both drivers to the hospital.
