30 years of Makedonija e.V.: A celebration of Macedonian culture in Unna!

On Friday, October 24th, an important visit took place in the Unna town hall: The Macedonian cultural association Makedonija e.V. Unna celebrated its 30th anniversary. The first alderman Sandro Wiggerich conveyed the warmest congratulations on behalf of Mayor Dirk Wigant. The association is aimed at the growing community of Macedonian immigrants in Unna and the surrounding area, which has expanded significantly in recent years, as unna.de reports.

The anniversary was celebrated with a festive event in the town hall. Numerous guests gathered there to honor the association's cultural contributions. Also embedded in the celebrations was the club's folklore group, which performs at various events across the state and nationwide. Participation in intercultural weeks, neighborhood festivals and also the Christmas market shows the commitment of Makedonija e.V. to the local community.

An important face of the diaspora

A particularly notable aspect of the association is the support from the State Agency for Emigration of the Republic of North Macedonia. This was created to promote and protect the interests and identity of the Macedonian diaspora. The agency's commitment illustrates how important it is to maintain and celebrate cultural roots despite geographical distances.

The Macedonian cultural association Makedonija e.V. not only plays a central role in the cultural integration of its members, but also acts as a bridge between the different cultures in Unna. Upcoming events include the “Mixed Bag” art and culture festival, which will take place on November 22nd in the Linden Brewery.

Protection and representation of interests

The state agency for emigration is committed to representing the concerns of the Macedonian community in Germany. This is demonstrated not only through cultural events, but also through the creation of platforms that promote conversation and exchange between different groups. It is undeniable that such initiatives help to strengthen multicultural coexistence in cities like Unna.

The club's celebrations not only brought back memories, but also invited the younger generation to actively participate and continue the cultural traditions. With a good knack for organizing events and actively helping to shape urban society, the club members have achieved a lot over the last 30 years.

In this sense, it is to be hoped that Makedonija e.V. will continue to play a central role in the cultural life of Unna in the coming years, and that the connection to the homeland and integration in this country will continue to be promoted.
