Planning for the future
The need for action was also recognized by the German Bundestag, which passed a budget resolution on November 26, 2020 to promote the Thuringian castle landscape through a special investment program. This also includes the Jägerhaus ensemble, whose 1,200 m² area is to be comprehensively renovated. The first two performance phases of the planning are expected to be implemented by the first quarter of 2024, but a lot depends on the approval of funding. During the renovation, not only is the preservation of the historical substance taken into account, but the spatial possibilities should also be rethought. Monument protection measures and user-neutral complex renovation are planned. In order to keep the costs within a reasonable framework, a gross budget of 2.4 million euros was set, with the allowable costs amounting to approximately 1.8 million euros net.
Next steps and challenges
The future planning team faces the challenge of combining both the needs of the citizens and the requirements of monument protection. The jury will consist of various experts who will assess both the economic and technical performance. The entire term of the single contract is set for 60 months, with the possibility of an extension. Now it's time for those involved to take the right steps and demonstrate good planning skills.
The residents and history buffs in Telgte seem to agree: Something has to be done! The hope remains that after a long period of standstill, life will soon return to the hunter's house before it possibly falls completely into disrepair.
