On Thursday, April 24, 2025, a dramatic frontal collision between two cars occurred at 4:54 p.m. on Sonsbecker Strasse in Alpen-Ven. A 32-year-old man from Dinslaken got on the oncoming lane in a right curve for an unknown cause and collided head-on with the car of a 52-year-old man from Alps.

The 52-year-old was seriously injured and had to be flown to a clinic in Duisburg with a rescue helicopter. His danger to life could not be excluded at this time. The younger driver, on the other hand, only contracted minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by an ambulance. Investigations into the exact cause of the accident are underway.
