Stonehenge in Wuppertal: Open-air exhibition starts on July 19th!

On July 19, 2025, a very special open-air exhibition will open in Heckinghausen: a walk-in replica of the famous Stonehenge stone circle that will take visitors into the mystical world of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The installation is almost full-scale and allows one to enter the inner stone circle itself, something not normally possible only at the original site in England. The highest stone in the installation rises an impressive seven meters and offers a unique view of the Visiodrom in the immediate vicinity, as Radio Wuppertal reports.

The Stonehenge exhibition is part of the “Connected by the Horizon” project, which not only connects culture and history, but also raises new questions about human history. The multimedia containers that accompany the facility provide exciting information about the history and various theories surrounding Stonehenge. This project will be an absolute magnet, especially for families, school classes and history buffs. Opening times are from Wednesday to Sunday between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., entry costs eight euros - a fair sum for such a unique experience.

Combo ticket and Van Gogh exhibition

There is another attraction for art lovers. An impressive exhibition about Vincent van Gogh is running in the Visiodrom, which can be seen until September 28, 2025. In over 6,500 square meters, works such as “Starry Night” and “Sunflowers” come to life on Europe's largest 360-degree screen. This immersive show not only offers a visual treat, but also lets visitors experience the stories behind the masterpieces up close, as Wuppertal.de reports.

Tickets for the Van Gogh exhibition cost 17 euros, but with a combination ticket for both experiences, art and history enthusiasts can enjoy two highlights in one day for a total of just 22 euros. After an intensive immersion in the colors and world of van Gogh, visitors can head to the mystical Stonehenge and become part of history themselves.

An experience for all senses

The Stonehenge replica in Wuppertal is not only a visual spectacle, but also stimulates reflection on the connections between the past and present. The astronomical alignment of the stones brings to life the fascination for ancient cultures and their rituals. A film about Stonehenge will also be shown in the multifunctional containers and will be projected in the Visiodrom on Thursdays and Fridays at 6 p.m. The BUGA 2031 in particular will also be represented there and will provide additional information that will certainly increase interest in this historic place, as Visiodrom notes.

The stars seem to be aligned in Wuppertal - a visit to the Stonehenge exhibition not only offers a piece of history, but also the opportunity to delve deeply into van Gogh's artistic legacy. A perfect excursion destination for the whole family, history and art enthusiasts who want to immerse themselves in the world of wonder.
