Hartwig provides exciting insights into political internships in the state parliament!
At the heart of Bavarian politics, Constanze Hartwig recently completed an exciting internship in the state parliament. This internship began on June 24th with an exciting trip to the state parliament by the Junge Union from Neustadt, which enabled the participants to experience the political processes up close and come into direct contact with members of parliament. A visit by the CSU regional leadership to Munich and participation in a plenary session provided the first insight into how the Bavarian parliament works. Hartwig described this experience as enriching for both her studies and her personal development. Your internship supervisor, Dr. Stephan Oetzinger played a central role and accompanied her through the many stages of her journey.
A highlight of the internship was the exchange at the parliamentary breakfast discussion with Klaus Holetschek, the chairman of the CSU parliamentary group. Hartwig found it particularly informative to take part in meetings in the Science and Art Committee and in the Constitution, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Working Group. Important topics such as monument protection and anti-Semitism were discussed here. Such conversations not only provide theoretical knowledge, but also promote understanding of the challenges facing politics today.
Practical insights into the political landscape
Hartwig had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Dr. Meeting Markus Söder, which was another highlight for her. The last day of her internship in Munich included a personal conversation with Dr. Oetzinger and a guided tour of the impressive Maximilianeum. “I would like to thank Dr. Oetzinger for the excellent organization and support during my internship,” says Hartwig, who would like to enter the next phase of her professional career with a valuable wealth of experience.
The Bavarian State Parliament's internship program is a valuable offer for students, especially in the areas of law and politics. The state parliament offers four-week group internships, which usually take place twice a year during the semester break. The aim of these internships is to give participants an understanding of how a parliamentary service authority works and to give them the opportunity to take part in information events, plenary and committee meetings and discussions with members of parliament. A simulation game on the legislative process rounds off the program, which is characterized by a “seminar character”. As the Bayern State Parliament writes, the places for the upcoming autumn internship have already been taken and an application process will be carried out under the “first come, first served” principle.
Opportunities and preparation for aspiring politicians
For many people, an internship in politics is an essential experience in order to gain relevant practical experience and acquire important key qualifications. The website parlamentjobs.de points out that numerous internship positions are offered in political parties, parliamentary groups and organizations. While there are currently no vacancies available, the opportunity for a dedicated application can be significantly improved through research and preparation.
For students and school leavers, such internships are often not only an opportunity to experience political events up close, but they can also create a decisive advantage for future applications. Of course, there are some requirements to consider. Student internships require less knowledge of political processes than student internships require comprehensive knowledge of political processes. A good demeanor and membership in a political party can even be an advantage.
This can be summarized as follows: Anyone who would like to take a look behind the scenes of politics will find numerous opportunities to achieve this goal in the Bavarian state parliament and beyond - a first step towards gaining a foothold in the complex world of politics!
