Changing cheeks: Seniors in focus at the district advisory council on June 23rd!

Things are going well in Wangen! The next public meeting of the district advisory board will take place on Monday, June 23, 2025 in the Eberhard-Ludwig-Saal of the Wangener Kelter. From 6 p.m. all interested citizens are invited to actively participate. In addition to answering questions and suggestions, exciting topics are on the agenda. Among other things, the results of a survey of older people with and without a migration history will be presented, followed by an oral report from the Office for Social Affairs and Participation. In addition, a proposal to hold the 2043 Federal Garden Show in Wangen, which was submitted by the CDU and Alliance 90/The Greens factions, is being discussed. Wilih reports that current developments in the district administration are also discussed and inquiries from past meetings are answered.

But that's not all! The city has also taken a lot of care of the older generation in recent years. The city senior council of Wangen im Allgäu was founded in 2009 and has since had an important right to be heard in the local council. In an article worth reading on the website of the city senior council, it becomes clear that there were challenges in 2023: There were no people who wanted to take on the tasks of the city senior council. The local council then decided to commission the Wangen Citizens' Forum with these tasks from 2024. A project group is being set up here to find committed citizens who want to get actively involved. Anyone interested can contact us by email at stadtseniorenrat@buergerforum-wangen.de Report or contact us on 07522 – 9319491. The city senior council reports about the possibilities for participation and support for seniors.

One year after the state horticultural show

Another highlight is the look back at the State Garden Show, which caused enthusiasm last year. Mayor Michael Lang announces the presentation of the program for the first LGS post-summer. The city invites everyone to come, stay and participate, especially in volunteer work. The catering on the park grounds is organized by Wolfgang Forster and Tobias Parthie. The latter is planning the popular Wangen Wine Days at Schweizer Platz from mid-May, which will offer wine and small dishes for four to six weeks. Wangen reports about the move to Argenwiese in June - with a beach bar, wine, beer and a barbecue offer.

The program for culture enthusiasts is constantly being supplemented by numerous events. The concerts started in mid-May at various locations in the ERBA and on the Argenwiese - and the catering offer comes from Tobias Parthie. Gastronomy will also be permanently established in the former flower café and cotton warehouse in the fall. Anyone interested in the local cultural scene should not miss the popular “Hot like Beats” parties, which take place in the two weeks before the children's festival and in August. And in September, the ERBA Music Festival attracts visitors with lots of music and a good mood.

All of these developments show that there is still a lot of liveliness in Wangen even after the garden show. No matter whether young or old – there is something for everyone here and the city does not stand still.
