Alzey-Land takes over responsibility for additional daycare centers – new opportunities for children!
A lot is happening in the area of early childhood education in the Alzey-Land community. From January 2026, ownership of five daycare centers (kitas) will be transferred to the municipality. The “Am Effenkranz” daycare centers in Eppelsheim and the “Dorfgrabenbande” in Flomborn are new, expanding the existing offering. There are currently three daycare centers that have been under the responsibility of the municipality since January 2025: Biebelnheim, Wahlheim and Nieder-Wiesen. These developments were sealed by the signing of a contract with the local communities of Flomborn, Dintesheim and Eppelsheim last week Alzeyer newspaper reported.
The takeover brings with it a uniform employment of the care staff, who were previously employed directly by the local mayors. In the new structure, the employees will in future be employed by the municipality, which should enable better organization and a more reliable everyday life for the children. “We have a good knack for developing daycare centers and the growing interest from other communities speaks volumes,” emphasizes team leader Tatjana Herbrandt.
Care provision and staffing situation
In Eppelsheim, around 50 children are looked after by a team of seven educational specialists, one trainee and additional support from housekeeping staff. In the daycare centers in Flomborn and Dintesheim there are another ten pedagogical specialists, two trainees and one intern who look after a total of 65 children. The association is well on the way to further professionalizing care and catering to age groups like this Website of the Alzey-Worms district highlights.
The youth welfare office plays a crucial role in this context by helping parents find the right care. Children from the age of one are entitled to support in a day care center, and two-year-olds have the opportunity to take advantage of a place free of charge. Income-dependent contributions can also be waived, which benefits families with four or more children.
Sustainable quality assurance
Standards are essential for the future quality of care. The State Youth Welfare Office of Rhineland-Palatinate (LSJV) is responsible for ensuring these standards. According to information from the LSJV The daycare centers are not only monitored, but also advised to ensure the quality of early childhood education. This support is crucial in order to achieve a high level of care and to further expand the offering for the benefit of children and families.
With these measures, the Alzey-Land community is looking optimistically into the future and shows that effective, high-quality care in the early childhood sector has a high priority. For the affected communities and families, this not only means an improvement in the care offerings, but also a strengthening of the community.
