Omega Community Foundation supports Hospice Bad Dürkheim with 15,000 euros
A generous donation of 15,000 euros went to the Bad Dürkheim Hospice, and it didn't just make the employees' hearts beat faster. The Omega Community Foundation, which has been active since 2004, has provided this significant support to help seriously ill people in the final phase of their lives. At the handover, Sister Isabelle Wien, the chairwoman of the Speyer Deaconesses, emphasized how important such donations are in order to meet the individual wishes of the hospice guests, because not all of the costs of hospice work are borne by the health insurance company Rheinpfalz reported.
The donation will be used specifically: Ulrike Grüner, the head of the hospice, has already outlined some possible uses. These include, among other things, subsidies for the housekeeping concept with freshly prepared meals and improving the shading in the outdoor area so that guests can enjoy nature on the terraces and in the garden.
Focus on palliative care
It should be noted that 5,000 euros of the donation also goes to the palliative care ward in the Evangelical Hospital Bad Dürkheim and to the social psychiatric outpatient care base (SAPV) of the Palliative Network South and Vorderpfalz. These three facilities, all of which are run by the Speyer Deaconesses, work hand in hand to ensure the best possible care for terminally ill patients in the region. Dr. Dietmar Kauderer, board member of the Deaconess Speyer, accepted the donation and emphasized its importance for the care of more than 250 patients a year who are supported there, according to Wochenblatt Reporter.
Wolfgang Lutz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, emphasized the importance and positive development of the community foundation. This is constantly committed to improving palliative care in the region and has set itself the goal of increasing the quality of life of people in the final phase. “We have a good handle on the issues at hand,” said Lutz.
A look at hospice ideology
The German Hospice and Palliative Association (DHPV) encourages a conscious approach to the issue of dying. Nobody should be alone in the last phase of their life. Dying with dignity, supported by psychosocial and spiritual support, is the goal of this initiative and is also reflected in the work of the facilities in Bad Dürkheim. The DHPV is convinced that every person, whether young or old, should receive the care and support they need in the final years of their lives, as can be found on the DHPV website.
Overall, the generous donation from the Omega Community Foundation shows how important it is to support hospice and palliative care in our society. They are a ray of hope for many affected families and show that together we can overcome the challenges of life's final request for dignity and compassion.
