Pastor Angela Wolter: Farewell after 30 years - new path in the hospital!

An emotional farewell is imminent: Pastor Angela Wolter is leaving the Evangelical Church Community of Bad Dürkheim II at the end of the year. After almost 30 years of dedicated service, including over eight years in Bad Dürkheim II, the 58-year-old begins a new phase of her life as a hospital chaplain in the Evangelical Hospital Bad Dürkheim from January 1st. “The new task really appeals to me,” says Wolter about her move, which brings with it not only professional but also personal challenges. Her time in the church community was characterized by love for the community, but also by challenges that she met with a critical eye, especially in relation to the church itself.

The hospital pastoral care, to which Wolter now belongs, stands out for its ecumenical orientation. Pastors in hospitals are independent of denomination or church membership and work trustingly with Catholic pastors. The pastors are regularly present with the patients on site and are there to support them in difficult times, which often also means a strengthening for the clinical staff, who are exposed to special demands.

Focus on hospital pastoral care

An important aspect of hospital pastoral care is openness and accessibility. Many clinics have chapels or prayer rooms that are open 24 hours a day. Regular church services take place in almost all facilities and patients are often even picked up in bed for church services. “Personal conversation and individual care are the key to good pastoral care,” says the hospital chaplaincy. Integration into the clinic's internal training is also an important point in order to ensure and improve the quality of pastoral care.

The Conference for Hospital Pastoral Care in the EKD coordinates these important services. She is committed to representing the interests of hospital pastoral care and promoting its further development. She maintains contact with educational institutions and actively participates in health policy debates.

A new path with dedication

Angela Wolter brings a lot of experience and a good knack for pastoral care. Your new job promises exciting challenges and an opportunity to experience intensively the reality of life for many people during times of illness and illness experiences. Saying goodbye to the community is not easy, but Wolter also sees a new beginning that can bring many positive aspects. With strong confidence in her abilities, she will certainly become an important contact for patients and colleagues at the Bad Dürkheim Hospital.

Wolter's move reflects not only personal changes, but also the constant development in the field of hospital pastoral care, which ultimately serves to improve the quality of life of patients and their relatives. So it remains to be seen what new paths and experiences Angela Wolter will take from next year.
