Living in old age: Tips and information for Bad Dürkheim seniors

On Wednesday, November 19th, from 2 p.m., the “Age-Appropriate Services” working group, together with the Bad Dürkheim care base and the community nurse plus Grünstadt/Leiningerland, will be organizing an informative event in the council chamber of the district administration. This is aimed at interested parties, relatives and friends, regardless of whether they have a level of care or not. The event is free of charge and is intended to provide practical information about living arrangements in old age, which is now a burning topic for many seniors and their relatives.

Three exciting lectures from experts will be offered in around two hours. Ralf Tebrün from the German Red Cross will present the outpatient living arrangements, while Heike Köppe from the Maternus Senior Center will shed light on the inpatient options. The program is rounded off by a contribution from the Advita group, which deals with residential groups and assisted living. Each presentation is complemented by the opportunity for questions and exchange. Here the participants can talk directly to the speakers.

A variety of living arrangements for seniors

But what are the actual options available to seniors? According to information from pflege.de The range of living arrangements includes both staying in your own home and innovative alternatives such as senior living communities or multi-generational houses. The latter offer the advantage that different generations live under one roof, which not only promotes social contacts but also creates a feeling of belonging.

Important aspects when deciding on the right type of living are accessibility, access to medical services and the opportunity to visit relatives and friends. The personal preferences of seniors should not be ignored. In many cases, the decision to live in old age depends on the individual's desired independence. Another aspect is the financial situation, as low-income households have the opportunity to apply for a housing entitlement certificate (WBS) for social housing.

Assisted living arrangements and their advantages

As the providers report, there are different variants of assisted living that are in great demand these days. For example, senior residences offer luxurious living options with extensive services, while assisted living apartments are specifically tailored to the needs of older people. These combine independent living with an additional care service. But what if you need to move out of your own home? There are often concerns and fears here, even if the advantages such as security and community should not be underestimated.

Short-term and preventive care are also available for short-term care needs, such as after a fall. These offer support if the caring relatives are temporarily unavailable. A real plus point, especially in a society where relatives are often responsible and combining care and work is often a challenge.

The upcoming lectures are an excellent opportunity for anyone who would like to find out more about the different types of living and the associated options. Registration can be done by telephone at the Bad Dürkheim care center on 06322 98 77 394 or 06322 98 85 017.

The event not only promises information, but also the opportunity to ask your own questions and exchange ideas with other affected people - a valuable opportunity to find the right type of living for yourself in old age.
