Wurstmarkt 2025: Extensive traffic changes planned for visitors!
Preparations for the Bad Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt, the largest wine festival in the world, are in full swing. This year, the popular event will take place on two weekends: from September 12th to 16th and from September 19th to 22nd, 2025. Since the railway line between Bad Dürkheim and Deidesheim is closed until the end of the year, extensive measures are being taken to provide those arriving with a comfortable journey.
The additional offering in local public transport will be particularly important in this context. Like [bad-duerkheim.de](https://www.bad-duerkheim.de/rathaus-buergerservice/aktuelles/pressemeldeen/2025/september/wurstmarkt-in-bad-duerkheim-zoepnv -south-ordered-and-financed-extensive-additional-offer-towards-neustadt-ludwigshafen-rhein-haardtbahn-rnv-and-gruenstadt-frankenthal-worms/) reports, Deutsche Bahn (DB) and Rhein-Neckar-Verkehrsgesellschaft (rnv) have already ordered additional trains and strengthened existing connections. On the sausage market weekends, there will be an hourly replacement rail service between Bad Dürkheim and Freinsheim, which will take passengers comfortably to the festival site thanks to an expanded bus service.
Versatile travel options
Due to the closure of the railway line, the bus service will be further expanded. Christian Volz, the commercial director of rnv, particularly recommends traveling via the Rhein-Haardtbahn. The canceled trains are to be replaced by several large buses between Deidesheim and Bad Dürkheim. In addition, additional late connections are planned until around 2:00 a.m. on the Worms – Monsheim – Grünstadt – Bad Dürkheim and Frankenthal – Freinsheim – Grünstadt – Ramsen routes. Many of the event visitors can look forward to an uncomplicated transition from the station forecourt to the festival grounds, as the walk is only short.
The city of Bad Dürkheim and the surrounding districts and cities worked together to finance these measures. The funds for the extensive offer come from, among others, ZÖPNV Süd, the districts of Bad Dürkheim and Rheinpfalz-Kreis as well as the cities of Ludwigshafen and Bad Dürkheim. The city provides information about timetables and fares on its website and by calling 0621-1077077.
Avoid parking stress
Anyone who wants to avoid the stress of looking for a parking space and traffic jams is well served by public transport. On the rheinpfalz.de it is pointed out that traveling by public transport is strongly recommended. Numerous visitors are expected at the event, which attracts hundreds of thousands of people every year. One of the highlights of the event is the tapping of the barrel, which is always celebrated at the press conference at the Vigilienturm, with numerous prominent personalities on site.
In addition, the S-Bahn service in the direction of Kaiserslautern and Homburg (Saar) will be increased on both sausage market weekends. Passengers from Neustadt/Weinstraße in Deidesheim have to change to the replacement buses that maintain the direct connection. The last departure to Speyer or Germersheim takes place at 10:31 p.m. with an SEV bus from Bad Dürkheim. On the fireworks days, September 16th and 22nd, 2025, there will even be special rides at 11:31 p.m. and 11:09 p.m. so that guests can get home safely after the fireworks.
The city is currently bundling all information about arrival and parking options on one overview page. Even short-term changes will be published accordingly. However, anyone who wants to travel by bike should note that it is not possible to take them on the rail replacement buses.
The anticipation for the sausage market is growing, and the organizational preparations create the best conditions for an unforgettable festival for all visitors. More information can be found on the homepage of the city and the transport companies. So nothing stands in the way of a cozy and enjoyable experience at the sausage market in Bad Dürkheim over the coming weekends!
