Wurstmarkt 2025: Wine, music and magic in Bad Dürkheim on September 19th!

The starting signal for the largest wine festival in the world is given in Bad Dürkheim Dürkheim sausage market. From September 12th to 16th and September 19th to 22nd, 2025, wine lovers and partygoers will come together to celebrate the 609th edition of this traditional event. The city promises a mixture of Palatinate cosiness, festive atmosphere and a lively market atmosphere.

With over 600 years of history, the festival has become a permanent institution, attracting between 600,000 and 700,000 visitors every year. Mayor Natalie Bauernschmitt emphasizes that the sausage market is more than just a festival - it represents tradition and community in the region. The focus is particularly on the excellent wines and sparkling wines from the Dürkheim winemakers.

A feast for all senses

The kick-off on September 12th begins with a festive concert on Ludwigsplatz, followed by a traditional opening show and the tapping of the barrel at 6 p.m. But the program has much more to offer: a literary morning pint will take place on September 15th, while the new wine sovereignty will be crowned on September 16th. A highlight of the festive season is the Schlager afternoon on September 19th, which will be accompanied by live acts such as Achim Petry and DJ Big T.

With over 300 wines and sparkling wines from Dürkheim locations, your physical well-being is also taken care of. The wine villages offer an upscale atmosphere, while regional specialties and fine wines can be enjoyed in the 13 wine tents. Special attention is also paid to the new rides in the amusement park, where young and old will get their money's worth.

Act quickly and secure your space

When traveling to the event, visitors should bear in mind that there will be substitute transport due to rail closures. There are also ten large parking spaces and guarded bicycle parking spaces available. Security measures such as bag checks and barriers ensure that the festive season runs smoothly, supported by close cooperation with the police and the Red Cross.

For those who don't know: The Dürkheim sausage market was originally known as the "Michaelismarkt" and was renamed the "Wurstmarkt" in the 19th century - not because of a huge sausage advertisement, but because of the high sausage consumption at the time. This year too, numerous rides await visitors, including classics such as the Auto Scooter, the Ferris wheel and the Musikexpress 3000.

All in all, the Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt is not only an opportunity for wine and pleasure seekers, but also a place to meet and celebrate. It's worth a visit - and if you want to experience the atmosphere up close, you should head to Bad Dürkheim!
