On Monday, April 7, 2025, a serious traffic accident in Kalkar occurred around 9:40 a.m., which seriously injured an 80-year-old scooter driver. The young driver of a VW Polo, 18 years old and from Kalkar, wanted to leave the roundabout on Xantener Strasse when the scooter driver, who came from Kastellstrasse, crossed the Bahnhofstrasse exit on the walking and cycle path.
