Celebrate with us: The Moselle Music Festival will be 40 years old!

The Moselle Music Festival, one of the most important classical music festivals in Rhineland-Palatinate, celebrated its 40th birthday in 2025. The start takes place with a special program and a kick-off special, which will take place on April 29, 2025 in the baroque hall of makers at Bernkastel-Kues. The 1985 festival was originally launched by Hermann Lewen as a program for spa guests in Bernkastel-Kues before it has developed into the largest classical music festival in the region over the years.

In the anniversary year, 70 concerts at 40 venues along the Moselle between Koblenz and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg are planned. Director Tobias Scharfenberger is known to discover new and extraordinary venues in order to enrich the festival experience. The music program combines various genres: in addition to classical music, pop, jazz, folk and tango are also presented. The special formats include picnic concerts and night concerts.

As part of the festival, excellent musicians will perform, including Karl-Heinz Steffens on the clarinet, Lea Sobbe on the flute and Markus Burger on the piano. Advance ticket sales have already started, and tickets are available for concerts in spring, selected summer concerts and the final concert on October 3., 2025 in the Constantin Bazilica in Trier. In addition, the festival will come up with more than a dozen concerts that offer excellent chamber music and cross -genre formats such as tango, jazz, improvisation and acting.
