Honor in Cochem: Weisser Ring congratulates four dedicated helpers!
Four dedicated Weisser Ring employees were honored at a festive ceremony in Cochem on July 2, 2025. Elisabeth Schmitt, the branch manager, as well as Dieter Brück, Klaus Zucchet and Gabi Jahnen have been working in victim support for 15 years. During this time they have worked tirelessly to ensure that victims of crime receive the support they need. The Weisser Ring is committed to the needs of these people and offers both personal support and financial help, as shown on rhein-zeitung.de is reported.
The Cochem-Zeller branch of the White Ring, which has existed since 2009, has established itself as an important contact point for victims of violence. It was founded by former chief inspector Heinz Kugel, who shared the motivation to pay more attention to the victims of crime. Today the branch is managed by Elisabeth Schmitt and a team of eight volunteers. Together they are there when help is urgently needed, be it with domestic violence, stalking, abuse or bullying. A wide range of topics are on the agenda - all information can also be found on the Weisser Ring website wochenspiegellive.de.
Important work in victim support
The work of the White Ring in Cochem-Zell aims not only to provide acute help, but also to take preventive action. Gabi Jahnen, who acts as a prevention officer, speaks on topics such as “civil courage” and “bullying” in schools and clubs. It is important to sensitize society to such issues. Particularly noteworthy is the “Without Fear in Old Age” campaign, which was specifically aimed at seniors in 2019 and provided information about risks such as the “grandchild trick” and dangers on the Internet. Such initiatives show that prevention and education are at the top of the list at the White Ring.
But it's not just preventative work that's central. The branch office is well connected and offers support from experts. This includes psychosocial help, information about criminal proceedings and financial compensation. In addition, the Weisse Ring also provides lawyers and psychotherapeutic support. In Germany, the association is a nationwide victim support organization that also offers a daily victim hotline (number: 116 006), as shown on hilfe-info.de can be read.
Strong together against violence
The White Ring has established itself not only as a support for individuals, but also as an important actor in society that campaigns against violence and for the victims. The voluntary work and financial resources come from donations and other donations. The initiative relies on the support of the population in order to continue to work successfully. The dedicated employees deserve thanks and recognition for their important role in the Cochem-Zeller region, and the Weisse Ring offers valuable support for all those who are in need.
