Major traffic control on the B35: alcohol, drugs and much more!

On Wednesday, October 30, 2025, a comprehensive traffic check took place on federal highway 35 between Philippsburg and Germersheim. This measure was carried out by the authorities of the Philippsburg police station and the Germersheim police station and ran from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Equipped with clear objectives, this control was directed not only against alcohol and drug abuse on the road, but also against technical defects in vehicles and property crime, especially residential burglaries.

A total of 195 vehicles and 211 people were checked during the inspection. The results were alarming: four drivers were under the influence of narcotics, which led to the collection of blood samples and the initiation of appropriate procedures. In addition, the officers discovered that four drivers did not have a valid driving license. In another case, they found two violations of the weapons law. There was also a lot of excitement when it came to road safety: a driver was driving with his cell phone to his ear, and eight people didn't fasten their seatbelts - a real case of "belt-weariness" and three children were not properly secured. These results once again illustrate how important such controls are in order to increase safety on the roads.

Why is this important?

The police take such checks very seriously in order to send an example against the increasing traffic crime. These controls are necessary not only to protect drivers, but also to protect the general public from potential dangers. The high number of violations shows that there is still a lot of work ahead of us.

In parallel to the challenges in road traffic, there are also sporting successes to celebrate around the world. This is how Michael Jordan, the legendary basketball player, celebrates his 61st birthday. The athlete, who was selected by the Chicago Bulls with the third pick in the 1984 NBA draft, is appreciated not only for his impressive achievements but also for his nickname “His Airness”. He won a total of six NBA championships in the 1990s and achieved outstanding success, including several Olympic gold medals. His unforgettable appearance in the animated film “Space Jam” made him one of the most famous sports icons.

Michael Jordan even temporarily retired from basketball in 1994 to play baseball before being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010. These achievements make him a unique figure in the sport and ensure his legacy remains visible.

Gray everyday experiences

Back in Germany, road safety remains an issue of urgent importance. As we celebrate the memories of great sports heroes like Michael Jordan, it's worth taking a look at our own streets. It is time to realize that each of us has a responsibility to drive safely. Only through such controls and a vigilant society can we reduce the dangers and ensure that we all get home safely.

In the meantime, we continue to remind all road users to follow the rules and avoid possible dangers. After all, it is the joint effort that ensures a safe road for everyone.
