The anticipation for the Mainz Carnival 2026 is increasing! This year a very special anniversary is being celebrated: The Mainz Court Singers look back on a proud 100 years of their existence. The official motto for the upcoming carnival campaign is:“The court singers in Golden Mainz have been number 1 for 100 years”, as ffh.de reports.

The men's choir, which was founded in 1926, has not only enjoyed regional fame. He gained particular fame through the TV carnival program “Mainz remains Mainz”. The court singers are known for their popular songs such as “Olé olé Fiesta”, “Such a day, as beautiful as today” and “Sassa”. In a year that is all about celebrations, Vinzent Grimmel, the choir's “captain,” announces exciting programs and events that honor the long-standing tradition.

Anniversary celebrations and creative preparations

With over 300 suggestions submitted to the Mainz Carneval Association (MCV), choosing the motto was anything but easy. A 30-person jury, consisting of representatives of various carnival clubs, gardeners, business and the media, had to choose the winning motto from almost 90 preliminary suggestions. The decision was extremely close: with a lead of just three votes, the winning motto went to the author, who now receives two tickets for the Sunday carnival meeting of the MCV as well as an invitation to the break reception. Second place suggestion was:“With court singing, Weck, Worscht and Woi – barrel night in Mainz am Rhoi.”swr.de reports that the motto should be humorous, original and “meenzerish”.

MCV spokesman Michael Bonewitz emphasizes that the early decision for the campaign gives the speakers and songwriters time for creative preparation. This gives hope for great performances and a colorful program. Especially in the anniversary year, a commemorative publication is published that documents the history of the court singers and their important role in carnival culture.
