On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, a spectacular predatory theft occurred in Mainz Central Station, in which an unknown perpetrator stole four cans. At around 3:00 p.m. the man grabbed the goods and wanted to flee, but was stopped by a 28-year-old employee. In a desperate attempt to free herself, the employee's thief hit his face with his fist before escaping. The woman suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The perpetrator is described as about 1.70 meters tall, wore a black baseball cap and a blue adidas sweatshirt with striking cross strips. He also combined blue jeans and black and white sneakers. The police in Mainz have started the investigation and are looking for witnesses who can provide information on the incident.
