VfL Neuwied: Autumn football camp inspires children and promotes talent!

VfL Neuwied has put together a sporting highlight for children and young people: the football camp took place during the autumn holidays for the third time this year. This special event not only promotes sporting skills, but also important values such as team spirit, fair play and discipline. The camp was a complete success and was seen by the community as a valuable opportunity for young people to participate.

Under the leadership of Peter Kröner, a dedicated organizational team ensured that the camp ran smoothly. At the opening, Mayor Peter Jung emphasized the importance of such events, especially for children from financially weaker families. The initiative was supported by the federal program “Future Package”, which is intended to promote social participation of children and young people, which is considered particularly important.

A wide range of sports options

But football isn't everything! In addition to the traditional soccer exercises, the participants were also able to get a taste of other sports. There was running training from the LG Rhein-Wied, insights into biathlon from the SCR Heimbach-Weis and even American football with the Mittelrhein Phoenix team. The varied program makes it clear that exercise can be versatile and encourages children to try out new sports.

In order to realize the camp, local sponsors were found who contributed 2,500 euros each to the financing. The VR Bank Rhein-Ahr-Eifel and the Raiffeisendruckerei have shown a good hand here and thus made a decisive contribution to the implementation. The camp aims in particular to enable children from lower-income families to take part, which was initiated by the Department for Child and Youth Development.

The future package in the background

This initiative is part of the larger “Future Package” launched in 2023. das-zukunftspaket.de informs that the funding program works via a single-stage application process that is based on the “first come, first served” principle. The funds will be awarded in two application phases, with the first phase starting on February 22, 2024. A key feature is the country-specific quotas, which are intended to ensure that the funds are distributed fairly. This means that no new applications can be approved in federal states in which the quotas have already been exhausted.

With the second application phase, which begins on April 15, 2024, rejected applications from the first phase will be given a second chance when the quota is lifted. This means that initiatives such as the football camp in Neuwied can continue to be implemented in the future and the participation of young people can be further strengthened. Local projects in particular benefit from this system, which specifically promotes young talent and enthusiasm for sport.
