Construction site chaos in Neustadt: B39 renovation brings traffic to a standstill!

In Neustadt there will soon be reason to detour, because the construction site measures on the B39 are imminent. These measures affect the area of Landauer Straße, especially between Exterstraße and Gabelsbergerstraße. A comprehensive renovation is planned, which will begin in full force after the German Vintage Festival is dismantled. Road safety is at the top of the agenda: a new asphalt surface layer of four centimeters is intended to ensure more safety on the heavily frequented through route to the west.

The construction site will be divided into several sections: From October 14th to 16th, the B39 between Exterstraße and Gabelsbergerstraße will be completely closed. There will also be full closures at the intersection of Exterstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse. Here, all access to the surrounding streets via Gabelsbergerstrasse is only possible in two-way traffic. Afterwards, from October 17th to 20th, the renovation of Bahnhofstrasse and the northern lane of the B39 will take place. Access is controlled via Gutenbergstrasse, where the B39 out of town towards Lambrecht remains accessible.

Later construction phases and accessibility

The follow-up work from October 21st to 22nd will focus on Schillerstrasse, while the fourth construction phase from October 23rd to 24th will tackle the southern lane of the B39 and the western lane of Schillerstrasse. Despite the restrictions, the option to turn left from the Zwockelsbrücke towards Weststadt/Lidl will remain throughout the entire construction period. In the event of a rescue or fire, all addresses can be reached at all times.

To bypass the construction site, it is recommended to drive into the city center via the B38 or the A65 Neustadt-Nord exit. Residents and commuters have to prepare for changes in bus services around the main station. Stops for numerous bus routes, including lines 500 to 517, will be relocated, and a rail replacement service may be installed at bus platform 5 on Landauer Strasse. Reconstruction work on the Hornbach roundabout

In addition to the renovation work on the B39, the roundabout on the B39 is also being converted B39/Louis Escande Street in full swing. The aim of this measure is to reduce traffic jams at the Hornbach roundabout and thus optimize traffic flows during the upcoming State Garden Show, which will attract many thousands of visitors to Neustadt in 2027. The construction work is of great importance in preparation for this major event and is expected to take several months. A high traffic load is to be expected, particularly in the south of Neustadt.

The construction management in Neustadt has a good knack for pushing forward construction projects in accordance with traffic safety and the needs of residents and commuters. If you have any questions about the construction sites, you can contact the city administration's civil engineering department on 06321 855-1452.

The measures are a clear step towards improving the transport infrastructure in Neustadt, but they also bring challenges for daily traffic. All those affected are invited to stay informed and plan alternative routes to avoid traffic jams.
