Competent help at the end of life: seminar on hospice support in Neustadt

The upcoming seminar on hospice support, which is organized by the Neustadt Outpatient Hospice and Palliative Center (AHPZ), shows how important it is to be there for each other in difficult times. The next training courses for the qualification of volunteer hospice attendants will take place on September 27th and 28th at Grainstrasse 8. These weekend seminars offer an excellent opportunity to deal with the topics of dying, death and grief and to learn important basics of hospice work.

The weekly reporter emphasizes that the content of the seminar also includes the history of the hospice movement as well as dealing with one's own experiences of farewell and loss. Participation in the seminar does not oblige you to do voluntary work, but it can certainly be the first step in this direction. Since the number of participants is limited and participation is subject to a fee, early registration is advisable.

Contents of hospice support

The training to become a volunteer hospice attendant goes beyond the basic seminar and includes comprehensive training that is divided into two parts. The Training content of the Miesbach hospice district not only include the development and goals of the hospice movement as well as some ethical and legal issues, but also communication techniques that are important in accompanying dying people. The qualification course, which follows the basic course, covers deeper topics such as spirituality, palliative care, rituals and the physiology of dying.

In addition, a lot of practical experience is gained. Around 20 hours of practical learning are part of the program, with participants also having the opportunity to apply their knowledge in biographical conversations and to deal with self-perception and the perception of others. Exchange with other professions and networking are of great importance for future hospice companions.
