Armed attack in Hanover: Police asks for clues!

In the night of Saturday, April 5, 2025, an armed attack shook the quiet neighborhood in Hannover-Calenberger Neustadt. An unknown man set up a pistol on a group of five passers -by at Friederikenplatz around 00:30 and asked them to run away. In panic, some of them fled while the perpetrator escaped towards the city center.

The shocked retired alerted the police immediately, who initiated immediate search measures. Despite the intensive search, the perpetrator has so far remained at large. The officials have taken into account for coercion and ask the population for help. It is not yet clear whether the weapon used was actually functional.
