Voluntary actors in Höxter: City honors committed role models!

On January 3, 2025, the ceremonial award of the Höxter City of Honorary Office took place in the historic town hall. This tradition opens up the last council meeting of the year with the honor of volunteers who are particularly committed to the community.

In his speech,

Mayor Daniel Hartmann emphasized the outstanding importance of commitment to the common good and praised the award winners who have contributed significantly to strengthening social cohesion in the city with their voluntary work.

The honor went to three deserved personalities:

  • Stefan Risse: Long -time chairman of TuS Ovenhausen, involved in the city sports association and district sports association. Crack organizes youth camp camp and sports events and is also committed to supporting refugees.
  • Diethelm Breker: With almost 40 years of engagement in Ottbergen and Bruchhausen, Breker is a musical director of the Spielmannszug Ottbergen and the trombone choir Bruchhausen. He is also active in youth work, the scouts and the fire brigade's support association.
  • Michaela Bast: she works in the Höxter water sports club for over 40 years, leads the training of the water sports department and organizes the Weser water festival. Bast is also involved in the shooting system, at the State Garden Show and in the Carnival.

Mayor Hartmann had special recognition for the support of the families of the volunteers and presented flowers and certificates to the winners. In his speech, he appealed to the younger generation to step into the footsteps of these outstanding personalities.

In addition, Hans-Georg Heiseke was honored by the UWG on December 19, 2024. Heiseke has been a member of the city parliament in Höxter since 2004 and has been volunteering for the city in the past 20 years. Mayor Hartmann praised his merits as the parliamentary group leader of the UWG faction and emphasized that Heiseke had a significant impact on the political discourse in Höxter with his work.
