Increase in sales at Wasgau: Successful half-year despite challenges!

In a persistently challenging market situation, the Wasgau Group can look back on a successful first half of 2025. The company's sales rose to an impressive 321 million euros, exceeding the previous year's figure by seven million euros. Retail sales are also particularly encouraging, at 237 million euros, slightly above the previous year's level of 231 million euros. Wasgau not only invested in the existing structure, but also opened two new markets. 12.5 million euros flowed into the further development of the branch network as well as into production operations and administration, reports the Rheinpfalz.

But the path wasn't always easy. Industry-wide pressures, such as ongoing pressure on margins and rising costs, especially in the personnel area, led to a decline in EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) to 3.5 million euros. In the previous year this value was 4.5 million euros. Despite these declines, the company management is maintaining the planned EBIT target of 3 to 4.5 million euros, adds Wasgau himself.

Market forecasts and challenges

, as relevant market analyzes show.

The retail sector is now more diverse than ever, connected by omnichannel strategies that leverage both online and offline channels. COVID-19 has accelerated this development and greatly promoted e-commerce. This is accompanied by increasing demand for faster delivery and contactless payments. The Wasgau Group will also keep an eye on these trends in order to face future challenges.

Overall, Wasgau shows that it has a good knack for sustainable growth even in difficult times. Quality and regional proximity remain the focus in order to serve customers in the best possible way despite growing competition. The first half of 2025 could lay an important foundation for the coming months and years, although it must be kept in mind that the pressure on retail does not ease.
