Citroën Ami: The new Special Edition Black Night is coming!

The Citroën Ami, the popular microcar, has gained a permanent place on our roads in recent years. With its compact size and attractive design, this small electric car is very popular. Today we can now announce the new features of the special edition “Black Night”, which gives the American an exciting, dark side. Featuring distinctive four dark sides and an eye-catching rear spoiler, this edition is expected to be a head-turner on the roads when deliveries begin in January 2026.

With a top speed of 45 km/h, the Ami is perfect for city driving. It offers space for two people and reliably protects them from wind and weather, while the range of 75 km is completely sufficient for local errands. Since its entry onto the market, Citroën has sold almost 85,000 examples of the Ami, which impressively demonstrates the popularity of this vehicle. In 2025, the Ami will receive a design update that will underline its more robust appearance and thus further increase its appeal. Auto Illustrierte provides information about this exciting development.

The Special Edition “Dark Side”

The Special Edition “Dark Side” takes the charm of the Citroën Ami to a new level. The soon-to-be-announced Swiss pricing for this special edition is sure to get many car enthusiasts excited. The Ami has established itself not only as a comfortable means of transport, but also as an extremely fashionable statement in urban driving.

But the growth of the e-mobility market is not just limited to the Citroën Ami. In Europe there is a continuous trend towards battery-electric vehicles. No new cars with combustion engines will be registered in the EU by 2035. The proportion of electric cars is growing inexorably and will already reach around 14.6 percent of new registrations in 2023. In the same year, petrol and diesel cars accounted for less than half of new registrations for the first time, indicating a huge change in the automotive industry. Statista highlights that Tesla is ahead in the electric car segment in Europe, followed by large manufacturers such as Volkswagen and Renault, which are increasingly relying on electric models.

The expansion of the charging infrastructure

A crucial factor for the growth of electromobility is the expansion of the charging infrastructure. There were a total of around 632,400 charging points in the EU at the end of 2023, with the Netherlands, Germany and France making up the majority of them. Norway leads the e-mobility rankings with over 82 percent electric car shares, including the most fast charging stations on highways. The trend is clear: European consumers are increasingly attaching importance to environmentally friendly means of transport, and the Citroën Ami could offer a very practical and stylish way to take advantage of these achievements of electromobility.

Last but not least, it remains to be seen how consumers will react to the new “Dark Side” special edition and what impact this will have on the market. One thing is certain: the Citroën Ami will certainly cause a sensation with its new dark side!
