City hall fight in Neunkirchen: Jecken conquered by Mayor!

In Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, the traditional women's carnival night was celebrated on February 28, 2025, which was held this year under the motto "Nothing in the Büggel, Ävver All Jot Drop". While Mayor Nicole Berka and her administration were barricaded behind money bags in the town hall, numerous carnivalists gathered outside, led by the Tambourcorps Wolperath and various companies such as the KG "For us Pänz" and the IG Rosenmontagszug. The old tollities and many enthusiastic jokes were also represented to storm the town hall and to take over the dominance over the carnival city.

The festivities that are the highlight of the carnival season nationwide are known nationwide. The Rheinische Carnival was recognized by UNESCO in 2014 as an intangible cultural heritage. This "fifth season" is not only a time for exuberant celebrations, but also an opportunity to humorously question social norms and political grievances.

fight for the town hall

The carnivalists were well prepared and decided from the start to storm the town hall. Economic promoter Thomas Maffei tried to tire them with Cologne and tire music, while Hans-Herrmann Klein from the KG "For us Pänz" relied on a "dead chatter" of the opponents. Despite the efforts of the administrative staff who gathered at the entrance, the carnivalists succeeded in breaking the barricade.

After a short fight, the Jecken penetrated into the town hall, where she met Princess Johanna I. In the middle of the celebrations, she gave a passionate speech that fueled the mood. Finally she took over the town hall key and announced that she had achieved power by Ash Wednesday.

special guests and demands

The presence of children and various carnival faces was particularly remarkable. Child princess Jana and the triumvirate from Hermerath, consisting of Prince Norbert, farmer Jens and Virgin Stefanie, enriched the festival with her presence. While Jana reads the theses on the future of the community, children's princess Lana demands faster internet connections and a children's and youth parliament.

Berka, who observed the entire event from the second floor, was ready after initial resistance to hand over the keys for the entrances to the town hall to the todoms. In the event of a glass of non -alcoholic sparkling wine, the mayor also announced that she would expect her second child in June.

This women's fastnache in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid is more than just a festival. It symbolizes the combination of tradition, community and a touch of politics that shapes our understanding of carnival. In the domestic “pirate stronghold”, this connection became particularly sustainable when the carnivalists humorously competed against the authorities to represent their joy and concerns.
