In the early morning of February 18, 2025, around 2:00 a.m., a mortar grenade was discovered during dredging work on the railway line near Kaiserslautern Central Station. The federal police immediately alerted and blocked the main route between the main train station in Kaiserslautern and Homburg an der Saar from 2:20 a.m.

Train traffic on the Ludwigshafen-Saarbrücken connection is therefore interrupted. Buses from the main train station and the station building remain untouched by the closure.
