On April 4, 2025, a dangerous near-collision between a train and two pedestrians occurred in Wittgensdorf Mitte, which ran onto the tracks despite closed half-barriers. The two women were busy reaching their incoming city railway from Burgstädt and ignoring the risk of approaching train towards Leipzig. The federal police urgently warned of the life -threatening consequences, which harbors the crossing of level crossings despite closed barriers.
