Oberkochen's lens lupfer fight in sixth place in the championship!

The German Indoor Championship of the 4th League Southwest took place last weekend in the Kocherhalle in Oberkochen. At this tournament, the “Linsen Lupfer” team from TSV Oberkochen competed for the second time and reached sixth place there. The "lens lupfer" originally reported for the 5th division, but were classified in the 4. League due to the lack of reporting numbers. A total of ten teams from Baden-Württemberg and Hesse took part in the event that played against each other in two five groups.

In the first round, the team from Oberkochen had an appealing start. On Saturday they won an exciting game against the "Cultimaters Besigheim" with 13:12. However, they then had to give up against "Skid Schwaigern" and "Bad Raps", with the games ending with 6:12 and 8:10. On Sunday, the "Linsen Lupfer" fought third place in their group with a clear 12: 5 victory over the "Square Force Mannheim" and thus qualified for the placement game.

placement round and tournament victory

The final placement game against the "Ulmtimates" unfortunately ended with a defeat of 6:10. The “Sturm und Drang I” team, which won 11:10 in the final against Waldstadt II, won the entire tournament. The Ulmtimates against the Bad Raps secured the game for third place 11: 9. The first two teams have the opportunity to climb into a higher league, while teams can relegate to the 5th division depending on the result.

An important aspect of the tournament was that there were no referees; Regular problems were independently clarified by the team leaders. The tournament organization was positively emphasized by Fabian Kipura, the deputy captain of the "Linsen Lupfer". He was satisfied with the result and praised the support on the part of the association and the city, which provided the organization of the tournament and accommodation for teams from foreign teams. This event also caused a lot of interest among the visitors to the stove and walkers who found out about sport.

parallel events and the importance of Ultimate Frsbee

The same weekend also took place six more DFV Ultimate tournaments in cities such as Berlin, Chemnitz and Osnabrück. These tournaments served as preliminary decisions for championships as well as for promotion and relegation in women and men. In Chemnitz, for example, seven teams fought for the final placements of the 3rd Open League Nordost, while ten teams played in the 2nd women's league north in Lübeck. The undefeated teams in Lübeck were "indiscutable" Münster and "Rotanten" Berlin, both of whom performed strongly.

Ultimate Frisbee is a dynamic mixed team sport, in which two teams with seven players each compete against each other. The games take place in rectangular fields with end zones, and points are scored by trapping the disc in the end zones. An important principle of this sport is the "Spirit of the Game", which emphasizes fair play and personal responsibility. Without external referees, the teams have to clarify regular disputes, which gives the game a unique social dimension. Frisbee has been part of the World Games since 2001, and in 2025 Frisbee will be expanded to include discgolf, which is an exciting further development of sport.
