The Across Alliance: structure and goals

The Across Alliance combines a total of ten European universities. In addition to the TU Chemnitz, the universities in Banja Luka, Bialystok, Craiova, Girona, Nova Gorica, Perpignan, Udine and Ruse are involved, with LVIV acting as an associated partner. The strength of the Allianz lies in the diverse expertise of its members, who act over various disciplines. The Alliance mission is to enable students to experience a European learning experience and to promote lifelong learning.

At the current session, the intensification of cooperation between the task team (co-) leaders and work package leaders was also discussed. The next working meeting of the Across Alliance is planned for 4 to 7 March, 2024 in Chemnitz, to which more than 200 participants are expected.

support from the EU and the Erasmus+initiative

Allianz is funded by the European Union as part of the “European University Initiative”. In 2023, the EU Commission announced the results of the Erasmus+tender that aimed to support alliances of university institutions. Students can study in various European countries, languages and specialist areas and acquire degrees that combine several countries. This year seven new alliances are added, which increases the total number of 50 alliances.

These alliances facilitate access to an extensive, cross -border educational offer and promise to convey promising skills. Over 430 university institutions from 35 countries are involved in these alliances, with German universities playing an important role.

A record budget of 402.2 million euros from the Erasmus+ program is available for the 2023 tender, whereby each alliance can receive up to 14.4 million euros for a period of four years. By mid -2024, the number of European universities should grow to 60, with more than 500 participating universities. This development emphasizes the increasing importance of cooperations in university formation and the valuable role of the Across Alliance within this framework.
