Mayor of Lyon entered the Golden Book - City of Leipzig
A seven -member delegation from Leipzig's French twin town of Lyon is also a guest at the annual general meeting of the Eurocities City Network. It is led by the new Mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet.
In a conversation with Leipzig's mayor Burkhard Jung on November 4, Doucet entered the Golden Book of the City of Leipzig.
town twinning since 1981
The city partnership between Lyon and Leipzig was closed in 1981 and is worn by many players in both cities.
lyon has a German consulate general and a Goethe-Institut, Leipzig a French honorary consulate and the institute Français. In addition, numerous institutions and associations are active in the Franco-German context.
The German-French Bildungszentrum Franz in Leipzig offers bilingual education from kindergarten to high school.
The topic of light connects Lyon and Leipzig in a special way: For Lyon it is a reference to the roots of the traditional festival of lights with the candles in the windows, for Leipzig it is the candles of the peaceful revolution in autumn 1989. Light artists from Lyon have already visited Leipzig Lichterfest on October 9th.
The Euro-scene The one with the guest appearance Theater Point Du Jour Lyon in the Schaubühne Lindenfels and a project by acting students from Lyon and Leipzig sets a clear accent on Lyon. Both cities have promoted both projects.
