Corona vaccination: The vaccination peak threatens to become a dead ball.
Berlin. The great success of the vaccination summit of the federal and state governments is not foreseeable. The participants feared on Monday evening that the summit could be a "big blow". At the video conference, the EU Commission defended its procurement line for corona vaccines. Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides said on Monday that she worked with the 27 EU countries and concluded the best possible contracts with the manufacturers.
So far, 18.5 million vaccine doses have been cast and more than 12 million of them have been administered. The goal of vaccinating 70 percent of adults in the European Union against Covid-19 by the end of summer was achievable.
The EU is ready to help manufacturers quickly set up their production and delivery of vaccines to cope with bottlenecks. But she added: "I ask all companies to ensure the reliability of their delivery plans and the transparency for all EU countries." This is necessary to give the citizens the opportunity to get out of the crisis.
No new obligations from manufacturers
According to the editorial network Germany (RND), the vaccine manufacturers described the situation in detail, but without receiving additional obligations. When asked by the Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Manuela Schwesig (SPD), Biontech said that more money had not accelerated production. The delay in the vaccine tax would be compensated for.
from Union circles it said on Monday evening that the SPD had burdened the summit in advance with great expectations. Now, for hours of debate, you are looking for a result. The formation of a working group had been rejected again. There will be no national regulation for vaccines, it said.
If Merkel does not conjure up a result from her hat, the summit becomes a "big blow". The grand coalition and the prime ministers could not afford this: the citizens would then publish it in the election campaign, which would make everything worse.

Vaccination manufacturers have announced further deliveries before the summit
After weeks of problems with the submission of the Corona vaccine, Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the Minister of State met a vaccination summit on Monday. Several Federal Minister, representatives of the vaccine manufacturers and the EU Commission also take part in the video conference.
The vaccinations against the corona virus had started in Germany and the EU shortly before the turn of the year. The first few weeks were accompanied by delivery problems of individual manufacturers, problems with scheduling and a lot of resentment about the lack of a vaccine. Several prime ministers and associations such as the German City Association have recently vehemently claimed clarity about the amount and time of vaccine levy so that the vaccination centers can better plan. Shortly before the vaccination summit, the manufacturers promised additional deliveries.
In the second quarter there should be significantly more vaccine doses
According to a new overview of the Federal Ministry of Health, which is available to the German press agency, the deliveries of corona vaccines for Germany are expected to increase significantly over the course of the year. After 18.3 million vaccine doses in the current first quarter, 77.1 million cans could follow in the second quarter and 126.6 million cans of different manufacturers in the third quarter. Then it could be 100.2 million cans in the fourth quarter.
