The course gives little hope of starting the journey before Pentecost

The German travel industry still has the corona crisis firmly under control. The business with winter package tours is practically lost due to barriers in many countries.

At the end of December, sales with advance bookings for this year's summer season were 68 percent below the same period last year, which was not yet affected by coronaemy. This is the result of an assessment by Travel Data + Analytics (TDA) that is available to the German press agency.

According to information, people with bookings for the Easter holidays at the end of March / early April were holding back. Only a few believed in December that travel would be possible again at this time, said the analysis house. The demand in travel agencies and classic online travel portals will only increase from Pentecost. The summer vacation in the holiday season July and August 2021 were mainly booked. Greece and the Canary Islands were at the top of the popularity list.

The summer trips booked by the end of December 2019, which had to be canceled on the course of Korona over the course of last year, is shown by the current business of 25 percent. This includes transfers from the previous year.

sales for the current winter season from November to April, including cancellations, fell by 86 percent. The minus will continue to increase in the coming months, since hardly any vacation trips take place during the closure, explained the analysis house.
