Podcast charts in Germany: How are they determined?

How can podcast numbers be reliably measured? While magazines and newspapers, radio and television rely on uniform standards, there is currently no such standard for podcasts in Germany. The diagrams used in this article are based on the rankings of Apple and Spotify, currently the largest platforms for podcasts. However, they use their own criteria when creating the diagram.

The USA is already one step further in this regard and use the so-called IAB standard for the uniform measurement of podcast downloads. This standard, introduced by Interactive Advertising Bureau, serves, among other things, to offer podcasters and advertisers better comparability of the range on the market.
