Dieter Birr gives a concert in Oschatz - an evening full of East German music history
Dieter "Machine" Birr, a singer, composer and guitarist of the East German band Puhdys, will give a concert in the Thomas-Müntzer-Haus in Oschatz on January 13 next year. This concert takes place two months before its 80th birthday and is entitled "Machine - Songs for Generations". The manager of Dieter Birr, Steven Dornbusch, who himself comes from Oschatz, has managed to win the artist for a concert in his hometown.
Last year Dieter Birr made a music Video for his song "Hold through" in Oschatz. He was amazed and enthusiastic that the people recognized and talked to him. For the video, scenes were shot in the Oschatz hospital, in the fishing paradise and in the Oz’ler.
Dieter Birr will not be on stage alone at the concert on January 13th. He is accompanied by Uwe Hassbecker, who has been playing at Silly for over three decades and has also been part of Dieter Birrs Band for several years. The concert is perceived by the spectators as very intimate and exciting, since Dieter Birr grants insights into his life.
Although the Puhdys and Silly were particularly known in the GDR, the program is not only interesting for people with GDR socialization. The interest in the music of back then is also available in young people who can get excited about the music of the machine and Hassbecker.
The Oschatz manager, Steven Dornbusch, hopes for a full house on January 13th. More than a third of the cards have already been sold. The Thomas-Müntzer-Haus offers a total of around 460 places for the event.
