The University of Kassel has the appointment of Dr. Inca Sauter for the Franz-Rosenzweig guest professor announced for 2025. This position enables the university to promote a deeper examination of the Jewish history of intellectual history and philosophy, especially with regard to the challenges and questions of today's society.

dr. Sauter is currently working as a research assistant at the Chair for Jewish religious philosophy of the Goethe University Frankfurt and is working on her habilitation, the topic of which deals with the "historical semantics of the Buber-Rosenzweig-Bible". Her experiences extend through internationally recognized institutions, including their time as a postdoc fellow at the Franz Rosenzweig Minerva Research Center of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. This comprehensive knowledge will make a significant contribution to the discussion about Jewish identity and the philosophy of dialogue.

The public inaugural speech by Dr. Sauter, who bears the title "Grimmsche Dictionary: Franz Rosenzweig and Martin Buber", takes place on May 14, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. C.T. in room 0019 of Kurt-Wolters-Str. 5 instead. In this speech, she will probably shed light on the symbolism and historical context of the works by Franz Rosenzweig and Martin Buber. Both philosophers are known for their contributions to the Jewish philosophy of religion and the philosophy of dialogue.

"Franz Rosenzweig's work has an unbroken fascination," notes Dr. Sauter. She sees her visiting professorship as an opportunity not only to convey new knowledge, but also to give significant impulses for today's understanding of Jewish belonging and philosophy. In the summer semester 2025 she will offer two seminars: "Community philosophy and criticism in the 20th century" and "Language pictures of German -Jewish belonging". Both events are open to students of all disciplines and aim to open a broader discussion about important aspects of Jewish intellectual history.

The Franz-Rosenzweig guest professorship, which has been awarded at the University of Kassel since 1987, bears the name of the influential Jewish religious philosopher, whose work led to a deeper understanding of the Jewish identity and the philosophy of dialogue. Professorship plays a crucial role in maintaining and promoting the cultural heritage of European Judaism, which was severely impaired by National Socialism.

This new department at the University of Kassel not only underlines the importance of Dr. Sauter's research, but also the continued relevance of the topics that treats her. Through an intensive examination of Jewish philosophy and intellectual history, the university creates a space for critical reflection and promotes awareness of social challenges that still exist today.
