The Beta Systems Software AG from Berlin announced on July 4, 2024 that it acquired all shares in the European Mainframe Academy GmbH (EMA). The EMA is the leading provider of training offers in the mainframe market in German-speaking countries and offers high-quality training and further education programs for IT experts. In addition to classic mainframe topics, the curriculum also includes modern technologies such as hybrid cloud environments and AI. The takeover strengthens the position of Beta Systems as a strategic partner for companies in the field of mainframe use and hybrid cloud solutions.

The European Mainframe Academy has been known for its excellent training offers in the mainframe environment for decades and also offers training on adjacent technologies such as containerization and devops integration. The acquisition enables Beta Systems to expand its market position beyond the DACH region to international markets. The EMA co-founders are preserved in managerial functions to ensure the continuation of the training offer.

Both companies are members of industry associations such as the Academic Mainframe Consortium and drive cooperation with universities. Last year, the Beta Systems Group of the University of Leipzig donated an IBM Z14 that is cultivated and serviced by the EMA. The new managing director of EMA, Gabriele Milanese, emphasizes the strong market position of the company in the roof area and is planning an internationalization of the business model with a focus on AI.
